How to Install Fences
When installing a fence there are some steps that must be taken first. After you have marked your property lines, and underground utilities, you can begin. You want to space your posts out to about 8 feet (the length of 2 x 4) so that each 2 x 4 meets and butts against one another on the posts. Dig the holes for the posts about 2 ft deep (your posts should be at least 8 ft long) so that you get a 6 ft tall fence. Mix your concrete, set your posts into the hole and pour the concrete around it, filling up the hole. Make sure all your posts are the same height, which should be 6 ft from ground to top. Wait a few hours until the concrete sets, before putting on the 2x4 cross boards. Put your cross boards so that each end sits flush in the middle of each post and the ends butt against each other. There should be three three rows of these (bottom, middle, top). After those are installed you can begin to install your pickets. Run a string line attached to a nail across the top or bottom so that you have a reference line for height consistency.
We also install and build ornamental aluminum, and chain link fences throughout the Charleston areas.
