One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofs is that they are "better" than shingle. Depends who you ask. Metal most definitely lasts longer, but it too only has a 130 mph wind rating as does shingle, and unlike shingles if there is hail storm you will likely see small dents all over the roof that look like a golf ball.
